Prince William is a devoted fan of the Apple TV drama Slow Horses, and he has even sent a message to one of the show's stars. The heir to the throne reportedly texted a friend who had lent their home for filming, passing on his regards to lead actor Sir Gary Oldman.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are known to enjoy many television programmes. One of William's current favourites is the spy series starring Sir Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Jonathan Pryce. The show has been commissioned for a seventh and eighth series and has received widespread critical praise and numerous accolades.

Prince William's connection to the show

Speaking to the Mail's Richard Eden, Sir Gary revealed that the production used a "very fancy expensive house" in London while shooting the most recent series. The actor explained: "The people there were friends of Prince William." He recounted how the property's owner informed him: "Oh, I just got a text from Prince William. He says hi!" Sir Gary continued to acknowledge: "I have a strange world."

Slow Horses holds an impressive IMDb rating of 8.4. The programme centres on Slough House, a dumping ground for MI5 service rejects who have catastrophically failed but not severely enough to be dismissed. Those banished there are referred to as "slow horses", a play on the location where they are stationed. The boss, Sir Gary's character Jackson Lamb, expects staff will either resign through tedium or exasperation.

A candid comment from the Prince

Prince William once delivered a remarkably candid comment to the Oscar-winner, who secured his award for his depiction of Sir Winston Churchill in the film Darkest Hour. He told the actor: "I just want to give you a good wash." The pair met when the Prince of Wales presented the veteran actor with a knighthood at Windsor Castle for his contribution to drama.

The filmmaker, who has secured three BAFTAs and one Golden Globe, said: "It was William who said to me, 'Every time you come on the screen, I just want to give you a good wash'."

Other royal TV favourites

It has recently come to light that William and his wife are also devoted viewers of The Celebrity Traitors, with the second series concluding on Friday (October 30). Speaking on Palace Confidential on YouTube, Daily Mail royal editor Rebecca English disclosed: "Now, William and Catherine are massive Traitors fans. I can tell you that now. They love the programme. Absolutely glued to it."

The series features a group of celebrities competing in a game of deception, with a handful secretly selected as traitors who must mislead their fellow contestants - known as faithfuls - while evading detection. Following a dramatic finale, two faithfuls - comedian Romesh Ranganathan and actor Sebastian 'Bash' Croft - emerged as the winners.
