Prince Harry booed at Leicester Tigers rugby match

Prince Harry was reportedly booed by sections of the crowd as he attended a rugby union fixture on October 9. The Duke of Sussex was at Welford Road to watch Leicester Tigers take on Gloucester.

Not everyone appeared pleased to see the royal in attendance, as he faced jeers from sections of the crowd when he was displayed on the stadium's big screen. The uncomfortable welcome from supporters at Welford Road was observed by social media users alongside TNT Sports.

They reported: "There were boos inside Welford Road as Prince Harry was shown on the big screen."

Solo outing without Meghan

Harry was also captured in photographs numerous times during the evening. The royal was pictured settling into his seat clutching a pint. During one moment of the match, he was seen engaged in deep discussion with someone seated alongside him, reports the Express.

Harry, a passionate rugby enthusiast, was also caught with both arms raised skyward, apparently celebrating. The duke formerly held patronage of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League.

Harry, who did not appear to be accompanied by Meghan Markle at the fixture, surrendered his royal connections to these bodies after he and the Duchess of Sussex withdrew from official duties and moved to the US. The Princess of Wales has subsequently taken on these positions.

Return to the UK

The duke's individual outing occurred just weeks after he returned to Britain with his family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated back to the UK in August, accompanied by their two children - Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Following their return, a letter was issued on behalf of the monarch reminding officials that the couple cannot use their HRH titles and that they do not represent the Royal Family. Harry and Meghan said that the statement caught them by "surprise" and in response said that they would prefer to be recognised as "public figures" rather than "private citizens" as the King classified them.

Since their return to the UK, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted heading together to a pub in a low-key outing. Meghan has also been spotted at a pub with fellow US celebrity Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia de Rossi.

It has been six years since the Sussexes stepped down from their roles as working royals and moved to California. The pair still have their Montecito home and it is not known how long they will be staying in the UK for.
