Piers Morgan accused former CNN anchor Don Lemon of being a "d***" during a heated clash on his show, Piers Morgan Uncensored. The fiery exchange, which took place in 2025, has resurfaced on X.
Don Lemon was fired from CNN in 2023 after 17 years, admitting he was "stunned" when his agent informed him he had been let go. During the discussion, Lemon referenced cancel culture, prompting Morgan to question whether it had played a role in his exit from CNN.
Exchange turns tense
"I asked you, did you feel your departure from CNN was an example of that, and you answered the question. I think it's perfectly reasonable," Morgan said. The pair began speaking over each other as Lemon fumed: "I'm not going to get into an argument with you!"
He continued: "Piers, I think that's completely disingenuous, and I think anyone watching that..." The former Good Morning Britain presenter, 61, interjected: "What are you talking about?"
Hitting back, the 60-year-old begged the presenter to stop interrupting him. "Did you invite me here to interrupt me, or are you going to let me answer the question?" Lemon asked, prompting Morgan to hit back: "I think you're being a complete d**k, if I'm honest with you."
Insults and accusations
Lemon responded: "Well, that's very kind and respectful of you," before Morgan clarified that it wasn't meant to come across as kind or respectful. "I could respond in kind, but I won't," Lemon replied, before Morgan insisted he could respond however he wanted because he didn't care.
"I think I'm above that. I'm not going to do that, Piers," he explained. The presenter went on to accuse him of playing the "victim card", pointing out that Lemon had been the one to mention cancel culture in the first place. Lemon then pulled out his phone to check his messages with Morgan's team, which discussed the topics he had agreed to speak about during the interview.
"So, you weren't prepared to talk about cancel culture or you were?" a confused Morgan asked. "Oh, my God, Piers, could you stop interrupting me?" Lemon responded.
The presenter claimed Lemon was "exhausting him", describing his response as "ridiculous". "Why would you react this way to a perfectly normal... Obviously, if you mention cancel culture, it's rational and logical that I would ask you whether you felt what happened to you at CNN was that? I play the clip, and then you throw a hissy fit," the broadcaster remarked.
Final exchanges
Lemon fumed: "Piers, I've given you your moment. This is going to go viral, so please, enough." When Morgan insisted he didn't want a "moment", Lemon suggested otherwise, arguing that if that were the case, he would've behaved like a "respectful" journalist and host.
"I don't think I'll take lectures on being a respectful journalist from you," Morgan snapped back. "Oh, my gosh, Piers. I can't even hear because there's a delay, and you keep talking. What do you want me to do? Rip the earpiece out of the mic and run off so you have a moment?" Lemon asked.
Morgan replied: "I don't care. Do whatever you like. I don't know why you've gone on this weird rant. I don't understand any of it." Lemon then accused the TV host of embarrassing himself, prompting Morgan to fire back: "You might be embarrassing yourself, Don."
