Harlan Coben's Run Away Promises More Twists Than Previous Netflix Thrillers

Harlan Coben has teased that his latest Netflix thriller, Run Away, contains more twists and turns than any of his previous adaptations. Speaking at a screening at BFI Southbank, Coben told RadioTimes.com that episode eight in particular will keep viewers guessing until the very last minute.

“This one has more twists and turns than any,” Coben said. “Episode 8 especially – you’ll think you have it solved once, twice and that last minute, you’ll have one more. It has to be emotional, it had to be a twist that would not only make you gasp out loud but hits you in the heart a little bit.”

The series stars James Nesbitt as Simon Greene, a successful father whose life falls apart when his eldest daughter Paige runs away. When he finally finds her, vulnerable and strung out on drugs, a violent confrontation forces him to lose her again. His search leads him into a dangerous underworld and uncovers secrets that could destroy his family.

Ruth Jones plays Elena Ravenscroft, a private investigator looking into another missing person. The cast also includes Minnie Driver, Alfred Enoch, Lucian Msatati, and Ellie de Lange. The show is written by Danny Brocklehurst, who admitted to feeling some pressure following the success of previous Coben adaptations like Fool Me Once.

“It’s always a little bit worrying just before it goes out because we’ve done very well,” Brocklehurst said. “You do think ‘Is this the one that won’t do so well?’ People tend to respond well to the thrillers, so I’m sort of semi-confident.”

Run Away premieres on 1st January 2026 on Netflix.
