Natalie Cassidy: 'I Want to Prove Everyone Wrong' with Healthy Weight Loss

Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has spoken about her determination to maintain a healthy lifestyle after shedding over a stone in six weeks. The actress, who turned 30 in May, said she has taken control of her yo-yo dieting and is focusing on toning up rather than just losing weight.

Cassidy, who has a daughter Eliza, said she has cut out carbs and follows a 1,500-calorie diet, eating mainly protein, fruit and vegetables. She works out with a personal trainer, Rob Horslen, doing upper body one day and lower body the next. 'I'm not starving myself like before. I feel really good,' she said.

The star has faced years of criticism over her weight, including being described as a 'beached whale' at age 15. She said she has tried numerous diets in the past, including Atkins and the maple syrup diet, but now believes 'diets do not work, diets are fads.' She added that she wants to set up a website to mentor people about weight issues.

Cassidy also addressed her relationship with ex Adam Cottrell, the father of her daughter, saying they prefer quiet evenings at home. 'I don't want to drink to get drunk any more,' she said, though she still enjoys wine and champagne in moderation.
