A mother-to-be who suffered two miscarriages was overcome with worry as she prepared for the birth of her twins in the latest episode of One Born Every Minute on E4.
Peace and her husband Q arrived at the hospital for an elective C-section, where she opened up about her previous losses before conceiving twins. She described her shock when she found out during her ultrasound scan that she was expecting twins, as she has no immediate twins in her family.
High-Risk Pregnancy and Anxiety
Peace recognised she was considered a "high-risk" pregnancy, revealing her babies were "on the small side" and their growth needed to be closely monitored. "It has been an emotional rollercoaster these past nine months," she admitted. "But I have been around a lot of positive people, I come from a very positive family."
"There are so many things that can change in the flicker of an eye," she shared, opening up about her anxiety ahead of the birth of her son and daughter as she explained her previous baby loss experience.
"The magic of pregnancy kind of goes away when you have losses," she disclosed, before Q revealed the couple had been through two miscarriages. "I went in to A&E and they were just like 'Yeah, there's nothing there'. We were like OK, we will try again, and it happened again. It was a very emotional time," Peace recalled.
A Special Third Pregnancy
Q said he could not afford to experience sadness, as "I have got to be the one she can lean on". The couple had initially decided not to try a third time, but later found out they were expecting twins and were over the moon.
Q shared: "This third one is really special, to know you are having twins. It feels like the first baby and second baby both came at the same time. God just said I took them away but you can have them back now."
Despite his excitement, Q admitted, "I'm really scared about the birth, I don't want anything to happen to Peace, I just want her to be OK." Before her C-section, Peace said "I'm absolutely panicking" as she got emotional about how her babies were "going to be so small", and she broke down in tears.
Her mum was present to reassure her, and thankfully, she went on to have a successful C-section and welcomed her two babies, as Q cried with happiness. The couple met on Instagram, with Peace admitting she put up "a bit of resistance" before letting her guard down and the pair went on to get married.
Another Emotional Story
The episode also featured Maxine, who found out she was pregnant shortly after the baby's father left her, and it broke her trust in relationships. She had been scheduled for a C-section, but as her waters broke early, she required an earlier theatre slot.
"I had the date with the baby's father, we had a really good time, we had been dating for about four months but he sort of said to me, 'I don't think you are the right person for me'", she recalled. "And then it was probably three weeks after that I realised 'Hang on a second, I've not had my period, it's late'. And then I thought I'm going to have to tell the father, but we weren't going to get back together because I don't want to be with someone who is not 100 per cent for me. He said to me whatever you decide, I will support you."
She went on to have a successful C-section and welcomed a baby girl, saying: "This is something that I have always wanted, and if I didn't decide to continue with the pregnancy, I would forever regret not having this baby." One Born Every Minute airs on Sunday nights at 9pm on E4.
