Midsomer Murders viewers have voiced the same complaint just minutes into the new series of the ITV drama. The second episode of series 23, titled 'The Debt of Lies', aired three months after the first episode was broadcast in April.
The episode featured John Barnaby, played by Neil Dudgeon, investigating a murder at Challis Court, a gated community for retired police officers. However, he soon discovered the killer was an insider and a former officer.
Yet, only minutes into the show, viewers took to social media to express their displeasure. One fan wrote: 'Lol, now I know why I don't watch this nonsense.. seems the programme-makers don't understand how airbags work.' Another echoed: '#MidsomerMurders is so boring, and it always features a middle-class family.'
A third viewer added: 'This isn't doing it for me. I prefer the early, funny ones. But the tweets are great!' While another vented: 'Terrible acting. Terrible casting. Terrible script. Just terrible.'
However, not all fans shared the same sentiment. One gushed: 'I love a twisty-turny #CosyCrime drama and #MidsomerMurders fits that bill.' Another agreed: 'New Midsomer Murders, just what the doctor ordered.'
The third instalment, titled 'A Grain of Truth', is set to air next Tuesday, July 23 at 8pm on ITV. The episode synopsis reads: 'The world of organic baking begins to crumble after a series of incidents at the newly revamped Larkton's Mill.'
