Lorraine Kelly's ITV show was unexpectedly taken off air on Wednesday morning due to a power outage at the studio. The presenter, who was on her way to work, shared the news with followers on Instagram, expressing her disappointment at the last-minute change.
Power Outage Forces Cancellation
In a video posted on Instagram, Kelly said: "Hello there, I'm on my way to work, but there's been a little bit of a hoo-ha. There's a power outage at the studio, so my show won't be on today. But you can still watch GMB. They're going to fix it around 11 o'clockish. So, This Morning will still be on as well, just a bit later."
She added: "It's a bit of a shame. I was really looking forward to Sharleen Spiteri from Texas, but we shall reschedule, and it'll all be fine. I will see you tomorrow!"
Fans React With Support
Kelly captioned the post: "These things happen. Can't be helped. See you tomorrow." Viewers quickly took to social media to express their disappointment and support, with comments such as "See you soon x," "Oh, take care," and "Shame."
One fan wrote: "See you tomorrow, Lorraine. Thanks for your amazing shows. Still wish you were on for the full hour." Another suggested she "reschedule and go home and treat yourself to a nice wee breakfast with a snuggle in with Angus."
Recent Absence for Family Reasons
The cancellation comes after Kelly temporarily stepped back from the show in October, when Loose Women's Christine Lampard filled in. That absence occurred as Kelly's 85-year-old mother was being released from hospital following a serious fall.
Kelly had posted an update at the time, writing: "Mum getting home! Great news and huge thanks to all at Hairmyres Hospital for making it happen. Thanks also to friends, family, and fabulous neighbours who have been incredible and so helpful - and to all of you for your good wishes - much appreciated."
Upon returning to the programme, she told fashion correspondent Mark Heyes: "She is out of hospital; she's doing great. Social care is fantastic, brilliant neighbours." She added: "She's very strong, Mark. She's very stoic. You know, she is, and she's doing great. So, Mum, I will see you later."
Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9:30am.
