Lorraine Kelly returned to her ITV programme on Thursday November 5 after a power cut in Covent Garden forced her show off air the day before, leaving the studio without electricity and throwing multiple programmes across the channel into chaos.
The presenter reassured viewers that everything was back to normal as she opened her show that morning. "Welcome to the show. We are back in the studio today after that wee power cut yesterday. It affected quite a lot of Covent Garden, but it's all sorted," she said.
Power Cut Disrupts Wednesday Broadcast
On Wednesday November 4, Kelly was on her way to work when she learned her programme would not air. In a video shared on Instagram, she explained: "Hello there, I'm on my way to work, but there's been a little bit of a hoo-ha. There's a power outage at the studio, so my show won't be on today. But you can still watch GMB."
She added that engineers expected to fix the issue around 11 o'clock, meaning This Morning would still air, just later than usual. "It's a bit of a shame," she said, noting she had been looking forward to welcoming Sharleen Spiteri from Texas but that the appearance would be rescheduled.
Good Morning Britain Handover Addresses Disruption
The scheduling upheaval was also discussed during Good Morning Britain's handover, when Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley spoke with Kelly. Garraway remarked: "Lorraine, marvellously, is here today after 9.30am after all sorts of issues yesterday, weren't there?"
Kelly responded: "I know! It wasn't just us; it was all around Covent Garden. Everything went dark! But it's all back; we're all fine; it's all good."
With the studio power restored, Lorraine returned to its regular scheduled programming on Thursday morning, and Kelly confirmed she would see viewers the following day.
