Celebrity Traitors star King Kenny has revealed the mistake that ultimately led to James Acaster quitting the series. The YouTuber and boxer, whose real name is Kenny Oghenovo Ojuederie, competed in the final of the BBC series on Friday night (October 31).
The episode began with Kenny and fellow traitor Maya Jama deciding to murder actor Michael Sheen. Following the final challenge, Kenny turned on Maya as it became clear that remaining loyal would not help him secure a win for the traitors. Once Maya was gone, Kenny, singer James Blunt, comedian Romesh Ranganathan and actor Sebastian Croft voted off former Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
Kenny's Final Mistake
Unfortunately for Kenny, he was the only one of the remaining four who voted to end the game at the Fire of Truth. Following a split vote between him and James, Romesh and Sebastian decided to send Kenny home.
Moments after this, James chose to continue banishing rather than end the game after Romesh aired his suspicions, not despite Romesh revealing that a conversation with Sebastian had changed his opinion of the singer. Both Faithfuls ultimately voted for James, leaving Romesh and Sebastian as the final two. They left with £41,500 each for their charities.
Acaster's Exit Explained
Many fans of the BBC series believe the traitors would have won the series had comedian James Acaster not revealed his true identity on Thursday night (October 29). The 41-year-old had been a reluctant Traitor after being recruited at the beginning of the competition, having wanted to play as a Faithful.
He eventually revealed himself as a Traitor at the round table after Michael Sheen began questioning his involvement in the murder of Ross Kemp. It later emerged that the episode required significant editing after production was brought to a standstill when the mounting pressure proved too much for James, reports the Daily Star.
Kenny's Explanation
On Saturday morning (October 31), Kenny appeared on Romesh's Radio 2 show to discuss their time on the show. During the interview, he was asked to explain the Traitors' deadliest mistake.
Kenny pointed to the murder in plain sight, where he, Maya and James all opted to be in the same room when Ross Kemp was killed in plain sight. This implicated all three of them once the perfume bottle death was uncovered.
"I think in the moment we were like, 'How are we going to do this?' All three of us just wanted to work well as part of a team to the point we didn't overthink it because there was so much pressure on how we were going to do this. We all stayed in the room. Someone had to yawn and someone had to say, 'Am I boring you?' I was just there to assist them in trying to get someone to yawn. We realised down the road that was the wrong decision for all three of us being in there. It shouldn't have been like that," Kenny admitted.
Meanwhile, Maya has revealed that she knew Kenny would turn on her just when she needed him the most, saying on Uncloaked: "I expected it. I knew that it was going to have to be one of us, and he was a lot more trusted at that time than me, and I felt like it would be selfish for me to expect him to try and save me when it was never going my way... I don't know how it crashed down so quickly. I feel like the game of James not wanting to lie, me just trying to keep the vibes happy and Kenny playing as a Faithful couldn't have lasted till the final. It was impossible. I think maybe if I was a bit more savage, things could have gone a different way."
