Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jaime Winstone has been forced to pull out of this weekend's show after suffering a torn abdominal muscle, leaving her in considerable pain and hoping to recover in time for the series' trip to Blackpool.
Under the programme's regulations, the actress has been granted passage through to next week, when it is anticipated she can return to the dance floor. The show also released a statement from Jaime reflecting on the news.
Statement from Jaime Winstone
Speaking about the setback, Jaime said: "I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal."
She added: "As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week. I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey."
"I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far. It means more than you know. Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love and strength for Saturday night and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime."
Fans react to the injury news
Supporters have voiced concerns that the situation could spell trouble for more than one celebrity, including Jaime herself. Some looked on the bright side, noting that at least it spares her from enduring another dance-off, according to Wales Online.
Nevertheless, supporters began speculating over who could find themselves in jeopardy. One person suggested: "Jaime will probably leave next week anyway depending on what dance style she gets she's been in the bottom two or three times. I'm worried for Bethany now though."
Another shared: "Not another one (injury). I was a bit sus the other week when her usual weekly thank you post didn't say much and was thanking physio the team instead I was like please no other injury. This could shake things up though as a new face could end up in the dance-off with Bethany. I really hope she comes back."

Others expressed worry about the potential gravity of the injury, with fears mounting that Jaime may not return to the competition at all.
