The Inbetweeners, the hit E4 teen comedy, is reportedly making a comeback with a stage show and a Netflix revival. Actor Joe Thomas, who played Simon Cooper, confirmed that creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have started writing new material, which could be a fourth series, another film, or a stage production.
In October 2025, it was announced that the creators had bought back the rights to produce more episodes featuring the original characters Will, Neil, Jay, and Simon, set twelve years after the second film. The original cast—Simon Bird, James Buckley, Joe Thomas, and Blake Harrison—are reportedly on board for the revival.
Joe Thomas told The Sun: 'What has happened is that the people who wrote The Inbetweeners a while ago sold the rights to a larger entity, and they recently bought them back so they can make some more. I’m really excited. I don’t know what they’re doing. I just know they’re writing something, and I would really love to do it.'
Writers Damon Beesley and Iain Morris said: 'Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends).' No official release date has been set, but rumours suggest a tentative schedule for 2026. It is unclear whether supporting characters like Mr. Gilbert, Carli D'Amato, and Charlotte Hinchcliffe will return.
The original series aired from 2008 to 2010, followed by two films in 2011 and 2014. Joe Thomas hinted that the new storyline will reflect the characters' maturity, noting that 'wisdom does not make a very good narrative' but that older characters face bigger challenges.
