Gogglebox is set for a major overhaul with five new families joining the regular cast for the upcoming 26th series, following the departure of one Scottish duo. The changes are designed to inject freshness into the long-running Channel 4 programme, which has been on air for 13 years.
Among the newcomers are Andrew, 62, and Alfie, 32, a married couple from the Cotswolds with a 30-year age gap. The show will also feature its oldest ever contributor, 87-year-old Sara from Yorkshire, who watches alongside her daughter-in-law Lara, 58. Two new Scottish duos will also join: pals Jake, 27, and Calum, 31, from Glasgow, and sisters Rosie, 68, and Susie, 70, from Edinburgh.
The two other new families are the Gordons from Surrey, consisting of parents Andre, 49, and Sarah, 47, with their daughter Chee, 25, and the addition of Andrew and Alfie. They will sit alongside established favourites such as Jenny and Lee, the Siddiqui family, the Malone family, and Giles and Mary.
Scottish couple Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle, who were not asked back for series 26, confirmed their exit on social media in July. They wrote that after three and a half years, Channel 4 had decided it was time for them to leave, thanking producers and saying it had been an honour to represent Scotland. A Channel 4 spokesperson wished them well and thanked them for their contributions.
Mike Cotton, creative director at production company Studio Lambert, welcomed the new households, saying it was a delight to have them join the Gogglebox family, and he looked forward to their candid thoughts on the week's most talked-about TV.
