Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford has confirmed she has no intention of stepping back from showbusiness, telling viewers they are "stuck with me" as she marked 80 years in the industry.
The 86-year-old Irish presenter was all smiles during Monday's (November 2) episode of Loose Women, where fellow panellists Coleen Nolan, Ruth Langsford and Jane Moore celebrated her journey from child performer to one of the nation's most recognised broadcasters.
Milestone moment on Loose Women
As Ruth introduced a special segment for the ITV panellist, Gloria admitted the milestone is "incredible," before jokingly adding: "You're probably saying 'Why doesn't she retire?'"
She then shared her plans for the future, making clear retirement is not on the horizon. "You have to be practical when you get to the 80s," Gloria began. "Because, heaven forbid, but I've been lucky not to have anything seriously wrong. But if you have an illness or something then, of course, that helps you make a decision. But at the minute, hey, you're stuck with me!"
A career that started by chance
Earlier in the show, Gloria reflected on how she stumbled into her career after moving to London as a mother-of-three. She admitted she never saw herself as a "trailblazer," a label many now use to describe her.
"I didn't think of it like that," Gloria said. "Because I was a housewife with three children by that stage and I always thought of myself as a mum first and foremost. But here I am with this challenge and I was excited about doing it, but I was too busy learning how to do it."
Interviews with Hollywood legends
During her first year in London, Gloria landed a job on ITV chat show Sunday, Sunday, which gave her the chance to interview Hollywood stars including Audrey Hepburn and Bette Davis.
The presenter remains baffled by how many A-listers appeared on the programme. She confessed: "I tell you the truth, to this day, I have no idea how they got them. All Hollywood names!"
Across her 80-year career, Gloria has appeared in major TV shows including Rip Off Britain, This Morning, Countdown and The One Show. Loose Women airs at 12:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX from Monday to Friday.
