GB News Interrupted for King Charles Oman Visit Update

GB News interrupted its regular programming for a breaking announcement on King Charles, with footage cutting straight to Windsor Castle as the monarch and Queen Camilla welcomed the Sultan of Oman for a state visit.

State Visit Coverage

Presenter Charlie Peters described the scene, noting the presence of the household cavalry and a state carriage. He also referenced a major announcement from the ministry of defence concerning Britain stepping up its posture shooting down Houthi attacks over Saudi Arabia.

Peters added that Oman is a "very close" ally of Britain, while co-host Emily Carver questioned whether the announcement had been deliberately timed to coincide with the state visit. She noted the Sultan of Oman's visit is the first state visit invitation in 44 years.

Royal Correspondent's Insights

GB News royal correspondent Cameron Walker explained that the government advises King Charles on hosting state visits. He said trading and defence are top of the agenda, with Britain investing heavily in Oman.

Prince William and Princess Catherine joined the King and Queen in welcoming the guest at the ceremony.

Security Measures

A number of officers were deployed in Windsor, including mounted units, armed patrols, CCTV monitoring, hostile vehicle mitigation barriers, road closures, and strict airspace restrictions. Law enforcement warned that any temporary airspace restriction breaches would lead to immediate arrest.

Thames Valley Police said it would use Windsor's CCTV network and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation barriers alongside other security measures, with neighbourhood officers and Project Servator teams engaging with the public.

Queen Camilla wore an all-red ensemble for the occasion, including a red wool crepe dress and matching coat by Fiona Clare, and a red hat by Philip Treacy.
