Emmerdale viewers are convinced Dr Liam Cavanagh is concealing an affair from partner Chas Dingle, after the doctor was spotted secretly messaging a mystery person in Wednesday's episode (October 21).
Liam, played by Jonny McPherson, first arrived in the village back in 2014 as the local GP and has since become a firm favourite with audiences. His time in the Dales has included several high-profile storylines, from his many relationships to the tragic death of his daughter Leanna, played by Mimi Slinger.
Liam's Secret Messages Raise Suspicions
This week's episodes saw Chas, portrayed by Lucy Pargeter, grow suspicious after catching Liam engrossed in his phone while at the Woolpack. When she asked to spend time together, Liam made an excuse about having to attend a conference, and when Chas offered to join him, he claimed she would find it boring.
The doctor was then seen sending a text to an unknown recipient that read: "No problem. I'll be there. Just need to get away without anyone knowing."
Fans Predict Manpreet Twist
With affairs being a recurring theme in the soap, fans have quickly speculated about what Liam is hiding. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer asked: "Is that Liam having an affair then?" Another replied: "Probably," while a third commented: "Can't one couple just be happy?!"
Many viewers have pointed to Manpreet Sharma, played by Rebecca Sarker, as the likely mystery woman. One fan wrote: "With Manpreet," alongside an eyes emoji, and another agreed: "I can see that happening tbh."
Spoilers Hint at Confrontation
Upcoming spoilers for next week reveal that Chas spots Liam getting out of his car with Manpreet and confronts them, accusing the pair of having an affair.
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
