Emmerdale fans distracted by Joe Tate baby blunder

Emmerdale viewers were distracted by a continuity blunder involving Joe Tate's baby son Will during Wednesday's episode (November 4). Fans noticed the newborn appeared to vanish from his pram between scenes.

Joe (Ned Porteous) became a father in August when late Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) gave birth to their baby boy. Dawn subsequently died following a severe post-childbirth haemorrhage, which resulted in cardiac arrest. Before the tragedy, both Joe and Dawn had been caught up in a devastating car collision on their wedding day, when Jimmy King (Nick Miles), who also perished, ploughed his vehicle into their wedding marquee.

Joe's Turmoil After Dawn's Death

Following his son's arrival, Joe descended into turmoil and refused any contact with the newborn, holding him responsible for Dawn's death. A heartbroken Joe also chose to place baby Tate up for adoption. Kim Tate (Claire King) and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) were left horrified by his choice, with the duo ultimately covertly caring for the infant until Joe had a change of heart recently.

Now completely devoted to his baby, whom he christened Will, Joe has been resolute about caring for his son.

The Vanishing Baby Scene

During Wednesday's instalment, Joe took a stroll around the village with Will in his pram. He subsequently encountered bitter rival Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and suggested he was aware that Caleb had been unfaithful to his wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) with Sadie King (Patsy Kensit). Seeking privacy for their discussion, the two then made their way to Caleb's residence.

Yet, once inside the property, viewers observed that Joe's baby Will had mysteriously vanished, along with his pram that he'd possessed just moments before.

Fan Reactions Online

On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer remarked: "I'm going to get accused of nitpicking here but having pushed the baby round the village all day Joe, you forgot about him when you went into Caleb's.."

A second viewer chimed in: "Haha that's what I was thinking. He had William when he said to Caleb 'I know something you don't know' and then he was nowhere to be seen." A third sharp-eyed fan noted: "I was so confused must have just parked the pram randomly outside Caleb's lol." While another wryly joked: "Poor Baby will soon be in the cupboard like the rest of the kids."

Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
