Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) makes a mistake with a client in upcoming episodes of Emmerdale as her anxiety over Tom King's (James Chase) return increases. A few days ago, Belle was told by a liaison officer that her abusive ex-husband Tom would soon be out of prison. While a licence means Tom cannot legally go anywhere near Belle, she knew these rules wouldn't stop him from making her life a misery.
At first, Belle decided that the only way to deal with Tom re-entering her world was to visit him in prison. Fortunately, after advice from Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah), she changed her mind. While Belle knows she may have to face Tom again sooner rather than later, she can take comfort in knowing her family will be by her side when that time comes.
Belle loses a client
Next week, Belle meets with couple Jordan and Caz ahead of their wedding. As they chat, Belle makes a note of the fact Jordan seems controlling. Belle invites Caz over to the house to share her concerns about her relationship. Caz is shocked, but Belle just views this as her being unable to open up.
Even though she's carrying on as normal, it's clear that Tom is already in her head, as Belle learns from an infuriated Caz that she's most certainly happy in her relationship with Jordan. Fired as the couple's wedding organiser, Belle is gutted that she got this so wrong.
A wreath addressed to Belle
Later in the week, Kammy finds a wreath of dead flowers and is troubled to realise it is addressed to Belle. With Kammy assuming that Tom sent the wreath he goes straight to Cain, who urges him to keep this a secret from Belle. But will hiding this from Belle be a move that Kammy and Cain later regret?
Discussing his return to the show, James Chase said: 'Stepping back into Tom's shoes is a responsibility I don't take lightly. He is a character driven by obsession and a desperate need for control, and it is both fascinating and challenging to step back into that mindset.'
'The audience knows exactly who he is and what he is capable of, so the challenge now is to show the lengths he is willing to go to in order to get what he wants, even if it means dismantling Belle's life all over again. It's a dark path, and I'm ready to see how far Tom will push it.'
