The hit Netflix series Emily in Paris is set for a major change of scenery in its sixth season, with reports indicating that Lily Collins' PR executive character will depart the French capital for exotic locales in Greece and Morocco. This development follows hints in the season five finale, where Emily received a postcard from her on-again, off-again love interest, Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, after he relocated to Greece to work as a chef on a billionaire's yacht.
Creator Confirms Gabriel's Continued Role
Despite Gabriel's move, series creator Darren Star has seemingly confirmed that the character will remain integral to the show. In a statement to Variety, Star expressed, 'I can’t imagine the series without Gabriel', suggesting that his storyline will continue to intertwine with Emily's adventures abroad.
Expanding Beyond Parisian Borders
This won't be the first time the series has ventured beyond the iconic Eiffel Tower. Previous seasons have taken Emily to European destinations such as Rome and Venice, showcasing her escapades as an American expat navigating life and work in foreign settings. According to industry publications, filming for season six is scheduled to commence next month, with Greece and Morocco serving as the new glamorous backdrops for Emily's latest exploits.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Netflix for official comment on these reports, though no response has been disclosed at this time.
Lily Collins' Personal Milestones
The news of the show's location shift comes shortly after Lily Collins promoted Emily in Paris at PaleyFest in Los Angeles, where she proudly displayed her engagement ring. Collins recently confirmed the recovery of this exceptionally rare piece, which was stolen nearly three years ago during her stay at the West Hollywood EDITION Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in 2023.
Recovery of a Precious Keepsake
The engagement ring, specially designed by her husband, filmmaker Charlie McDowell, and valued at over £65,000, had been placed in storage at the hotel. Upon her return, Collins discovered that her belongings had been taken without any signs of forced entry. Last month, she shared a selfie on social media, celebrating the ring's return with a heartfelt message: 'So grateful to @joethejewelerchicago for helping recover my original engagement ring after it was stolen almost three years ago. Having this home means SO much to us. I'm still speechless it's back on my finger.'
Collins and McDowell, who is the son of actor Malcolm McDowell, announced their engagement in September 2020 after meeting on the set of his film Gilded Rage the previous year. They exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado, in September 2021.
Balancing Career and Family Life
In addition to her professional commitments, Lily Collins has been open about her work-life balance with Charlie and their daughter, Tove. The couple welcomed their 13-month-old daughter via surrogate and recently shared sunny family snaps on social media, depicting them as doting parents. One photo even showcased Collins in a black tennis outfit, highlighting her toned figure as she engaged in exercise.
Accompanying the images, Collins penned a caption that read: 'Work life balance...', reflecting her efforts to juggle motherhood with her thriving acting career and ongoing projects like Emily in Paris.
