EastEnders spoilers follow for Thursday's (October 15) episode, which can now be streamed on BBC iPlayer. The episode in question will air at 7:30pm. Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) told Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) that she wants the blood of the man who watched her beloved daughter Zoe (Michelle Ryan) die.
It's been a traumatic time for the Slaters following the death of Zoe, who tragically passed away after falling into rubble and hitting her head. The situation was made all the more tragic when Kat learned that Zoe made a 999 call and was heard saying 'he left me', which meant that someone was with her in the moments leading up to her death – and failed to act.
Kat's Breakdown and Alfie's Departure
Viewers know the man in question is none other than Max Branning (Jake Wood), who believed Zoe to be drunk at the time of the showdown, unaware that she was facing death. Kat remains in the dark, however, and has locked herself in Zoe's room for weeks, pushing away those closest to her with cruel and hurtful words.
The situation reached breaking point earlier this week when Kat got drunk and caused a scene in the Vic, telling the punters that drinks were on the house in Zoe's honour. She made vile comments towards granddaughter Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) and accidentally pushed Tommy (Sonny Kendall) to the floor, leaving Alfie irate. Kat berated her husband and belittled him at every chance she got, claiming that their marriage is over, demanding that he leave.
Alfie resisted at first but as tensions reached an all-time high, he joined Kat in removing his wedding ring. As Kat ventured out into the dead of night, Alfie packed up his belongings, much to the chagrin of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), who urged him to stay and support Kat. Tommy was similarly devastated with his dad's decision to go, begging him to reconsider. Alfie, however, headed for the Tube.
A Reunion in Epping Forest
Kat, meanwhile, caught a Tube to Epping Forest, where she ventured through in the heavy rain with less than three percent battery in her phone. As she stared up at the moon through her sobs, she was reminded of her beloved Alfie and swiftly called him. To her shock, he picked up and – as she struggled to stay warm on the freezing cold night – she revealed where she was before the battery died.
With the last Tube of the night having left, Alfie hopped in Charlie's cab and raced to Epping Forest, where he located an unconscious Kat. Kat woke soon after, smiling. Alfie helped her to the cab, where they shared a heart-to-heart, with Kat apologising for how she's been behaving and suggested that maybe love is what she needs to get through this turbulent chapter.
A Favour and a Promise
But she also had a big favour to ask, revealing that she wants the blood of the man who watched Zoe die – wants to see the man in question take his last breath. And she wants Alfie's help to do it. Despite his reservations, Alfie promised that he would help Kat get what she wants.
The question is: will the couple uncover that Max is the culprit? And if so, is Max in danger from Kat? Are his days numbered? We know that his life is in danger on New Year's Day when he's set to marry a mystery woman as someone takes his kids hostage on the day in question – is Kat a potential suspect now? Is Alfie?
