EastEnders star Nicholas Bailey bids farewell after Anthony Trueman's Christmas murder twist

EastEnders actor Nicholas Bailey has said 'that's it' following the dramatic Christmas Day murder of his character Anthony Trueman. The doctor met his end in a shocking twist that saw his daughter Jasmine strike him with a firm object after he attacked Zoe Slater.

Anthony had returned to Albert Square in August after more than a decade away, but his behaviour soon became erratic. He was revealed to have a restraining order against him from his wife and had been hoarding photos of his former fiancée Zoe. On Christmas Day, he got into a fight with Zoe after withholding information about their twins, and was later found dead by Kat Slater.

In scenes aired on Thursday night (January 14), Jasmine accompanied the family to the undertakers and asked for a moment alone with Anthony. She revealed a video showing him attacking Zoe, and said: 'You could have killed her, but I stopped you. It's nice to finally meet you, Dad. Now rot in hell.'

The episode marked Bailey's final appearance as Anthony, with the actor seen lying in a coffin. EastEnders shared a video of his last day on set, where he received flowers from executive producer Ben Wadey and hugs from castmates. 'So that's it for Anthony, the final curtain has dropped,' Bailey said. 'I want to thank everybody behind the scenes, in front of camera and everybody who has made this happen.'

Anthony first appeared on EastEnders in 2000 and was involved in a love triangle with Kat and Zoe Slater. He initially dated Kat before proposing to Zoe, but she called off the wedding after discovering he was still seeing her mother. The character left in 2003 after accidentally causing a patient's death, but returned last year.
