DIY SOS Rested in 2027 as Nick Knowles Reacts

The BBC has confirmed that DIY SOS will be taken off air in 2027 due to budget cuts, with the final episode having aired on Tuesday this week. The show, presented by Nick Knowles, has been on screens for more than two decades, first airing in 1999.

The final episode focused on a large renovation project on a family home in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Fans will see a change to the usual Tuesday night schedule on BBC One next week, with MasterChef: The Professionals taking its place. The cooking competition, hosted by Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti, will launch its search for the next culinary star with a series of demanding challenges designed to test the chefs' skills to the limit.

New Format Announced

The BBC has plans to continue DIY SOS in a new format, called DIY SOS Rebuilt My Life. It will look back at some of the show's most memorable successes while offering a different way to bring its stories to viewers.

In a statement shared earlier this week, presenter Nick Knowles expressed his disappointment. The 64-year-old said: "Well, it’s been 27 years of my life. It’s been like a family - or a band on tour - somewhere in between maybe."

Campaign to Save the Show

He added: "I've asked and been told - if it comes back it won't be whole houses, it won't be huge buildings for charities - so it's the end of an era. Proud of all who worked their socks off. Proud of what it's done for families and charities. Proud of the hope it gave people."

A campaign has been launched to keep DIY SOS on screens, which has now exceeded 40,000 signatures.
