Delta Goodrem promises Strictly return after rib injury

Delta Goodrem has promised fans she will return to the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor this weekend after missing Icons Week due to a rib injury. Speaking on the spin-off show It Takes Two, she said she was "very, very grateful to be back" and would "definitely try my best this week".

The singer was forced to rest at home over the weekend because of the injury, but will dance again on Saturday, October 24, with professional partner Kai Widdrington. The pair hope to continue their leader board success.

Emotional Return to Training

In Wednesday's episode of It Takes Two, host Ellie Taylor returned with exclusive interviews and rehearsal updates. Roving reporter Abi Clarke visited the training rooms and spoke to several contestants, including Delta and Kai.

Delta admitted she had been emotional during her recovery: "Everyone has been so lovely and so kind and beautiful and all the messages, I've been going in waves of tears all week. Very happy to be here." She also praised Kai, saying he had been "so amazing every day just checking in and working together at how we can make this happen but still heal and do the best that we can."

Rumba and Group Dance Plans

Kai revealed the pair would perform a Rumba, describing it as the "slowest of Latin dances, but also one of the most difficult, especially for the female dance partners." They will dance to Celine Dion's It's All Coming Back To Me Now.

Delta made a promise ahead of the performance: "It's the ballroom, we've got to go out and deliver and I'll definitely try my best this week." She also shared that her mum in Australia had some "good commentary", adding: "She wasn't thrilled with my arms."

Later in the episode, Ellie teased this week's group dance as "a little bit sporty and will make you sweat." Choreographer Lizzie Gough said the professionals would perform a fitness-inspired number: "We wanted to throw everything that you would find in a gym, into their routine. So they are skipping, there are running machines..."

Special guest Mel C, known as 'Sporty Spice', will join the dancers. She said: "They are incredible and they make me up my game. But also, it's quite intimidating."

Strictly: It Takes Two airs Monday to Friday at 6:30 PM on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday nights at 6:30 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, followed by the Sunday results show.
