Death in Paradise Dedicates Episode to Late BBC Editor

The BBC has confirmed the death of Danielle Scott-Haughton, a commissioning editor for Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise, at the age of 37. The news was first announced by The British Blacklist and later shared on the official Death in Paradise Instagram page.

In a statement, the show's Instagram account said: 'We were devastated to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Danielle Scott-Haughton. Dani was the BBC Commissioning Editor for Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise and was a passionate champion of both shows, as well as every programme she worked on.' The post described her as bringing 'energy and joy' to shoots and praised her 'enthusiasm, positivity and determination'.

BBC Director of Drama Lindsay Salt and chief content officer Kate Phillips paid tribute, saying: 'For those of you who knew Dani, you will understand just how extraordinary and special she was – full of joy for her job, super smart, deeply committed, bursting with integrity and a hugely talented commissioner who cared passionately about the work and every single person behind it.'

Danielle Scott-Haughton began her career in production, writing and directing, working on projects including Dear Jesus and The Alexis Show. She spent seven years at Balloon Entertainment as Development Executive and Executive Producer on Champion for BBC One and Netflix. At the BBC, she oversaw dramas such as EastEnders, Just Act Normal, and executive produced A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2024) and Towards Zero.

Tributes have poured in from colleagues and personalities, including radio host Clara Amfo, relationship expert Paul C Brunson, and Lorraine's Ria Hebden. The BBC has not yet announced which episode of Death in Paradise will be dedicated to her memory.
