Death in Paradise actor Aron Julius has expressed his excitement after landing a role in the long-running BBC medical drama Casualty. The actor, who previously played a murder suspect in the popular crime series, will join the show as new resident doctor Matty Linlaker, a role he describes as a "dream job".
Julius, who appeared in the 11th series of Death in Paradise as potential murderer Jason Clarke, said: "I am absolutely buzzing to be joining Casualty as Dr Matty Linlaker. It's a dream job - fast, fun and full of heart - and I can't wait for audiences to meet him. Saturday nights just got a little more chaotic."
The actor's other television credits include roles in Moving On, DCI Banks, and a two-part Silent Witness storyline last year. He also has extensive theatre experience, having performed in productions such as Quality Street, As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet, and A Christmas Carol.
Joining Julius in Casualty is actress Jasmine Bayes, known for her roles in Doctor Who and Vera. She will play Kim, another new resident doctor who, despite her uncertainties, proves capable as she navigates the challenges of the emergency department alongside Matty. Bayes said: "I am delighted to be joining the ED alongside Aron for Casualty's 40th year. The journey Kim goes on is far from simple, and I hope audiences are prepared to follow her into some troubled waters."
The upcoming series of Casualty promises high-stakes drama, with the Emergency Department overwhelmed and the Care Quality Commission closing in. Flynn (Olly Rix) and Siobhan (Melanie Hill) must unite the team as tensions threaten to break it apart, while Faith (Kirsty Mitchell) and Iain (Michael Stevenson) face obstacles in their romance, and Cam (Barney Walsh) and Indie (Naomi Wakszlak) continue to grow closer.
Casualty's new series begins on 10 January at 8.45pm on BBC One.
