A fishing village in Northumberland has been placed at the centre of the lies and deceit in new ITV drama Adultery, with the cover story involving Craster playing a pivotal role in the plot's climax.
The first episode of the series aired in the primetime 9pm slot on Sunday night, with the whole series made available to binge on ITVX. The drama follows characters Tom and Beth, played by Dominic Cooper and Romola Garai, who have a chance encounter one day before discovering they are already linked because their children are dating.
Craster as a cover story
Sparks fly between Tom and Beth, and despite both being devoted to their families, an affair begins as they lie to their loved ones about their whereabouts to steal time together. As they plan a weekend away, Beth tells her husband and kids she needs to go to Craster in Northumberland, claiming it is where her recently passed away best friend Ali wanted her ashes scattered.
That is a lie, as she has no intention of scattering the ashes and instead goes to a cottage owned by Tom's mum. The village is mentioned again as the show draws to a gripping conclusion.
Village worth a visit
Although Craster does not appear on screen, the village is described as worth a visit, lying not far from Alnwick and close to Embleton Bay and Dunstanburgh Castle.
