Craig Revel Horwood has described his Icons Week costume on Strictly Come Dancing as a "complete disaster," saying he "couldn't stand it" because the dark glasses prevented him from seeing the routines or reading his notes.
On Saturday night (October 17), BBC viewers saw Craig dress up as one of the Gallagher Brothers, while Anton Du Beke played the other sibling. The duo wore brown wigs, glasses and green parka coats, with Craig also sporting a tambourine over his head. Meanwhile, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse took on the roles of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga from the music video Telephone.
Craig's Costume Complaints
Although viewers at home found the outfits hilarious, Craig was less impressed. Speaking to Tyler West on the spin-off show Strictly: Lights Up, he admitted it was a "disaster." When asked how difficult it was to give serious constructive feedback in his costume, Craig didn't hold back.
He replied: "I couldn't stand it. I'm being honest. No, I couldn't see anything through the glasses because they were so dark. I had to have them up while I was watching the routine. But then I couldn't read any notes that I'd made, so for me, it was a complete disaster."
Tyler joked that was the reason he gave out so many eights to the contestants, to which Craig remarked it "might have been." He added, "Happier with the scoring, but I was not happy inside."
Monobrow Fear
Craig confessed he didn't even look in the mirror while in costume, stating he was "too afraid." The Strictly judge added: "As soon as they painted the monobrow on me, I went, 'I spent all my life plucking in between here' and then they painted that terrible monobrow on there."
The judges weren't the only ones who took on famous personas, as the contestants also dressed up as the likes of Adele, Elton John, David Bowie and Raye. Viewers saw the highest score of the series so far, with Jaime Winstone and Cach Mercer both being given a score of 34 in week four.
Sarah Storey Eliminated
It marked the end of one person's time on the show, as Sarah Storey became the third person to leave Strictly Come Dancing after finding herself in the dance-off with Bethany Antonia. In the end, it was a unanimous decision to save Bethany.
Speaking about her time on the show in an Instagram post after her elimination, Sarah paid tribute to her professional partner Julian Caillon as she wrote: "Thank you for being the best pro I could have ever wished for @julian_caillon, you really are a wonderful and fabulous human, and I so loved our time on the show."
She added: "Shorter than we wished for, I will miss not learning a new dance with you tomorrow and trying to put all the tips and feedback into practice. PS I love your idea of a bike ride."
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 6:30pm.
