Coronation Street star Anya Dewin has received a wave of supportive messages after she was seen making a major move away from the famous cobbles, months after making her debut in the long-running ITV soap.
The actress, who plays Lucy Parkinson, took to Instagram to share an update from her personal life, posting a picture from her new apartment and describing the moment as deeply meaningful to her.
Debut as Lucy Parkinson
Viewers of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, first saw Dewin make her debut in August as the new character Lucy Parkinson, following the unexpected arrival of her dad, Richie Parkinson, in Weatherfield.
Richie was revealed as the cousin of Weatherfield resident Tim. After picking up a cab fare, Tim was surprised to be reunited with his family member, and it was not long before Richie was seen sleeping on Tim's sofa, admitting he was going through a rocky patch with his wife, Rachel.
On-screen drama unfolds
What soon transpired was not what Tim and his wife, Sally, were expecting. Tim advised Richie to try to sort things out with Rachel, so he headed home, but he accidentally left his wallet behind. When Tim returned later, he was left in shock as he saw Richie's shirt covered in blood, and then made the horrifying discovery of Rachel's lifeless body.
Following Richie's arrest and charge with his wife's murder, it was confirmed that Lucy would be placed in temporary foster care. But when her placement fell through, Tim went behind Sally's back and organised a meeting with the social worker, saying he and his wife would take her in, as they had done with the Michaelis children - Brody, Joanie and Shanice.
However, as Corrie viewers have seen, it has been far from easy, as Lucy continues to take offence at Sally, leading to her spooking her on Halloween and ending up being hit over the head with a vase. Not only that, but Christina Boyd has also been revealed as Lucy's grandmother, having given up Rachel as a baby.
Personal milestone celebrated
As the drama continues to unfold, with Christina wanting to confront Richie over his relationship with Rachel, away from what is happening on-screen, Dewin shared an exciting update in her personal life.
Sharing a picture from her new apartment, the new soap star wrote: "And just like that… I’ve moved into my very own apartment. To know me is to know just how much this moment means. From completely losing my spark and feeling like there was no hope, to moving to a beautiful city and pursuing what I’ve always dreamed of."
She added: "Like I always say, keep shining. And if you ever think things are impossible, please believe me when I say you’re so very wrong. Keep dreaming big. That spark can come back brighter than ever. Anya."
She was quickly flooded with messages from fans and followers, with @amycdrake saying: "What an achievement! Congrats!" @glow_withcarly commented: "Congratulations. Happy new home." @kelly_higham13 wrote: "Aww congratulations Anya. You deserve the world.
