Shona Platt is left in danger in Coronation Street next week as she and baby Harper end up in peril. A bleary-eyed Shona struggles with Harper when Jodie Ramsey reminds her she promised Lily Platt a cake for the school sale. Jodie refuses to help, claiming she has a dentist’s appointment.
After a stressful morning, Shona’s horrified when the smoke alarm goes off and she realises she’s burnt the cake. But Jodie watches from the garden, enjoying her sister’s torment.
Shona's ordeal deepens
Later, whilst Shona takes a nap on the sofa, Jodie slips in. Soon, David Platt arrives with Shona and Jodie's dad, Doug Ramsey, and they’re horrified to find the kitchen full of smoke and Shona asleep. As David tries to wake her, will Shona and Harper be ok?
Following the incident, and feeling useless at home, with David and Jodie insisting she just relax, Shona goes to fetch Harper for her bath. But what she doesn't know is that a scheming Jodie replaces the water with boiling water from the kettle, so that when David tests the water, he yelps in pain.
As Shona walks in with Harper, David rails at her, pointing out she could have scalded their daughter. Shona apologises profusely, will David accept? Meanwhile, when Gemma Winter-Brown tells Jodie about her own postnatal depression, Jodie secretly forms a plan.
Summer's new romance
Later, as David and Shona leave for their romantic lunch, Jodie criticises Shona’s hair and outfit to dent her confidence. Arriving back home, Shona enters the house to hear Harper crying. She tries the annexe door but finds it locked. David enters to find Shona beside herself with worry. Upset, Shona heads out for a walk, and Asha Alahan finds Shona in Victoria Garden with Harper. When Asha smells wine on Shona’s breath, she’s left with cause for concern.
As the week draws to a close, Shona hears Harper crying, but as she goes to fetch her, David enters from the garden carrying a happy, smiling Harper. Shona gets upset, convinced she must be hearing things. Later, David accompanies Shona to the doctor's. Afterwards, while Shona naps, Jodie remarks to David that it must be difficult being a carer and a single parent. But sticking up for his wife, David asserts that it's only a blip.
Meanwhile, Kit Green takes a woman back to the flat, but when she tries to kiss him, he admits he’s not in the right headspace. But as Bethany Platt emerges, the woman storms out. Later, Bethany visits her mum, Sarah Platt, in prison and, masking her own guilt, breaks the news to her that Kit's moved on. After the visit, Bethany opens up to Ryan Connor about the fact that Kit’s been seeing other women, but they are interrupted when Michael Bailey enters in a celebratory mood, having been given Sarah's old job as assistant manager at Underworld.
Kit's struggles and Tyrone's frosty scenes
Back at home, when Bethany receives a text from Ryan and smiles, Kit urges her to go for it, as it’s obvious they like each other. Later, over drinks, Ryan regales Bethany with funny stories. Will she make her move? As for Kit, he attends an appointment with the breast cancer consultant to tell him his next steps following his stage 3 diagnosis. But once back at the station, Lisa Connor-Swain puts pressure on Kit to find Luke Cookson’s murderer. When Kit snaps at her, Lisa voices her concerns to Bernie.
Later, Kit chases after a young lad, accusing him of murdering Luke and spoiling for a fight. Sporting two black eyes, Kit joins the family for pizza night. Worried for him, Bernie tells Kit that she has a good feeling about her cancer test and is certain she’ll get the all clear. Will Kit open up to Bernie?
Elsewhere in Weatherfield, as Ross Wilkes makes himself comfortable, Tyrone Dobbs makes a dig about the amount of time he spends at their house. Ross quickly changes the subject and regales Tyrone with a story about UFOs. Later, in the pub, Tyrone shares Ross’s story and when the lads all mock him, Ross masks his annoyance.
Summer's date and other Weatherfield news
In a bid to build bridges, Tyrone invites Ross and Tracy Barlow to join him and Fiz at the bistro. As Tyrone quizzes Ross about his past relationships, Fiz enjoys stirring and reveals that Tracy’s been married four times. When Ross is scathing about Richie Parkinson and his claim that he was abused by his wife, will Tyrone, who faced his own domestic abuse trauma in the past, react? Ross later tells Tracy that he deeply regrets his remarks, and Tracy advises him to apologise to Tyrone. Ross begs Tyrone’s forgiveness for his crass comments, but will all be forgiven?
Also in Weatherfield, in the café, a lad named Marco compliments Summer Spellman on her drawing. While Summer heads to the loo, Marco rips the page out of Summer’s notebook and leaves. Summer passes the tattoo shop and notices her drawing on display in the window. It's not long before Summer accosts Marco outside the tattoo shop and accuses him of stealing her design. Marco explains that it was just an excuse to see her again, he’d like to buy her drawing and suggests they meet for a drink. Will Summer agree?
Later, Summer confides in Asha and Amy Barlow that she’s agreed to a date with Marco but still has her reservations. Meanwhile, Asha’s nervous about returning to work and seeing Sienna again, leaving the girls to sympathise over their failed relationships.
And, with Carl Webster struggling to find work, Debbie suggests he could return to the hotel, but Ronnie Bailey's quick to close it down. When Carl later reminds Debbie she was meant to be meeting Ronnie for dinner, Debbie calls Ronnie and lies, making out she got waylaid at work, while Carl listens with concern.
