Corrie Fans Suspect Idris Nazir's Hidden Agenda

Coronation Street enthusiasts are convinced they have uncovered the true intentions of newcomer Idris Nazir, suspecting he has significant plans for Weatherfield that could spell trouble for resident Brody and others.

Idris Nazir's Debut Raises Eyebrows

The character, introduced this week as the cousin of established resident Alya Nazir, immediately aroused suspicion among some characters due to his behavior. Viewers are also predicting turmoil following his interactions with other newcomers. In one scene, Idris threatened a man named Damo, while on another occasion, he ejected two intoxicated businessmen from Speed Daal after they ruined temp waiter Brody Michaelis' trainers. The men refused to leave until Idris intervened, forcing them to compensate the staff and Brody. They quickly departed, casting Idris as a hero.

Fans Theorize About Idris's Motives

Later, Idris was seen threatening Damo over an undisclosed debt, and he informed Brody about potential job opportunities. He expressed admiration for the area and hinted at grand plans for Weatherfield. With discussions about his involvement in property development and acquiring a local agency, Brody eagerly sought employment. However, fans believe Idris will lead Brody astray, sharing theories about his actual agenda.

One viewer commented: "He's going to lead Brody astray." Another suggested: "I think less bully, more 'likeable villain' is what they're going with... I do think he's up to no good though, and that he's going to get Brody in trouble as it definitely seems he's hiding something with Damo." A third fan speculated: "I feel like Idris paid those two guys to cause trouble in the restaurant so he could then roll in like a boss." A fourth added: "It's a bit too suspicious that they were so quick to pay up and leave when Idris warned them." Regarding what Idris might be concealing, a theory proposed: "He is a money lender or drug pusher."

Brody's Potential Downfall

Concerns for Brody were echoed by fans: "I hate that Idris is gonna exploit that and get Brody into trouble," while another remarked: "So Brody's going to be Idris's henchman? Why not show Brody making a name for himself instead." Another viewer added: "Idris is gonna hire Brody because he sees him as an easy target to manipulate." One fan even wondered if Idris was connected to a past character: "Idris Nazir is in property developing; it would be an interesting twist if he's revealed to be in cahoots with Ray Crosby. Ray, hell-bent on revenge, gets Idris to completely redevelop Weatherfield, which brings the community together to stop it."

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30 pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
