Coronation Street viewers have developed a theory that newcomer Idris Nazir may have a sinister motive for pursuing a romance with Leanne Battersby. The character, who debuted this week, is related to Leanne's late ex-partner Kal Nazir.
Fans have taken to social media to speculate that Idris could be working for Harvey Gaskell, a villain who was imprisoned after Leanne helped the police. Harvey previously escaped and attempted to kill Leanne, instead murdering Sam Blakeman's mother Natasha in a case of mistaken identity.
One viewer posted: 'I know that Idris is a wrongun but, does anyone else think that he might be in cahoots with Harvey and that's why he's coming onto Leanne?' Another fan responded: 'Never thought of that!!!'
Further comments included: 'Good theory and Leanne said she knew him from somewhere - could have been one of Harvey's henchmen.' Another fan added: 'Might be a bit of a stretch but it could explain why after about 3 hours they're pursuing a romance, so fast when they barely know each other, AND he's related to her late partner, all a bit weird.'
