TUI named UK's most unreliable airline for 2025

Aviation experts at AirAdvisor have analysed Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) data from January to September 2025 to determine the most and least reliable airlines for UK travellers. TUI was found to be the least punctual, with only 57.5 per cent of its flights departing on time – less than half.

In contrast, Virgin Atlantic and Loganair jointly topped the list for punctuality, each achieving an impressive 81 per cent of flights running on schedule. The combined average on-time performance for all 20 major carriers analysed stood at 72 per cent during the same period.

Other well-known airlines also struggled: Blue Airlines, which has since gone bust, managed under 60 per cent punctuality, while Swiss Airlines achieved around 64 per cent. On the better end, Emirates recorded 78 per cent, and British Airways, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa each scored 76 per cent.

AirAdvisor CEO Anton Radchenko noted that TUI's performance has historically been poor during the busy summer months, with less than half of its services on time in quarters three of 2023 and 2024. He added that 2025 has seen delays and cancellations fall closer to pre-Covid levels, but passengers may still be entitled to compensation under UK regulation UK261 if disruptions occur.
