Coronation Street fans baffled by Kit Green's move as Sarah Platt's freedom confirmed
Corrie fans confused by Kit Green decision as Sarah Platt freed

Coronation Street fans have been left confused by DC Kit Green's latest decision as Sarah Platt's freedom was confirmed during the latest instalment of the long-running show.

As viewers of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, know, things weren't looking good for Sarah as she headed to court last week, with the jury out to decide whether she was guilty of killing Theo Silverton in cold blood.

The character, played by Rusholme-born actress Tina O'Brien, was revealed to be the dastardly builder's killer in flashback scenes aired in June. The reveal came weeks after Theo's lifeless body was found by Betsy Swain on the night of her mum Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor.

Flashback scenes and confession

The flashback scenes showed Sarah being confronted by Theo, having lured her to his flat, and fearing for her life, she appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off the scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground - before she called on her former flame, Gary Windass, for help.

Sarah confessed first to Todd, her best friend and Theo's husband, as he struggled in the aftermath of his abusive partner's death. Meanwhile, Kit found out when she admitted to killing Theo as he was trying to pop the question.

Despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo. She was later charged as the evidence stacked against her, and Sarah ended up admitting to the murder, telling DS Lisa Connor-Swain it was in self-defence.

Court verdict and aftermath

After spending months behind bars on remand, Sarah was seen heading to court in last week's Corrie, and things weren't looking good when it came to her fight for freedom. But her fate was confirmed during Monday's (October 19) visit to Weatherfield.

After the closing speeches from the prosecution and defence barristers, the jury headed off to deliberate while Sarah was taken back to the cells. But it wasn't long before she was back in the dock, after the jury came to a quick decision. They confirmed they had found her not guilty, much to her family's relief, and later, Sarah was seen back at home.

As she headed back to the flat, she was reunited with her son, Harry, as well as Kit. Having stuck around for a chat, Sarah apologised to Kit for everything she had put him through, and begged for another chance, wanting to be there for him during his cancer treatment. However, Kit made it clear that nothing had changed now she was out, and that he was already prepared to move in with his mum, Bernie Winter-Alahan.

Fan reactions to Kit's decision

But it was his decision to move out now that seemed to baffle Corrie viewers. @Fake_TV_Chef said: "So now Kit decides to move out? Not when Sarah dumped him and staying in a flat with his ex-girlfriend's kids was super awkward? Bethany and Adam could easily have watched Harry instead of making it weird for Kit. #Corrie."

@LadyReignFC added: "So Kit could've moved in with Bernie the whole time. He stayed in Sarah's house for months after they broke up, dated the woman who attacked her, slept with her daughter, didn't take care of Harry & NOW he can move out? Sure. All the benefits, none of the work #corrie."
