Coronation Street has confirmed an upcoming special episode dedicated to Debbie Webster, in which she brings her friends together only for the gathering to descend into chaos.
The ITV soap, filmed in Salford, has shared the first details of the episode, which centres on the Chariot Square Hotel owner as she is expected to enjoy her last Christmas following her dementia diagnosis last year.
Debbie's diagnosis and recent struggles
Debbie received a devastating diagnosis in April 2025 after growing concerns about her memory loss led her to book an appointment at a private clinic. Although she believed her symptoms might be related to the menopause, the doctor advised further tests after discussing a series of incidents shown in flashback scenes, including a blackout and a fall. She was subsequently diagnosed with early-onset vascular dementia.
Since then, the soap has documented the progress of her condition, which was severely impacted during her prison stint earlier this year. She was jailed for causing the death of vicar Billy Mayhew, although it was her son Carl who was at the wheel at the time of the crash.
More recently, Debbie's behaviour has continued to concern her husband, Ronnie Bailey, and her loved ones. Ronnie admitted to attending a dementia support group after Debbie thought he was cheating on her, as he comes to terms with her diagnosis and the life they have left together.
Debbie's Angels gather for Carl's surprise
According to spoilers for next week, the special episode will focus on 'Debbie's Angels' as she arranges a get-together with Abi Webster, Bernie Winter-Alahan, Christina Boyd, Sally Metcalfe and Glenda Shuttleworth to help with a surprise for Carl.
As the women gather, Debbie empties a plastic crate onto the carpet to reveal hundreds of photographs taken over the years and explains that she needs their help to make a photo book for Carl's 40th birthday.
What starts as a fun bonding experience quickly descends into chaos as past tensions surface among the women. Amid heated confrontations regarding family history and past trauma, the group struggles to keep the celebration afloat. While some find solace in confiding in one another about their own personal burdens, others face difficult decisions about their futures.
By the end of the evening, the air is cleared and the women unite to move forward, though several of them must navigate significant, life-altering choices in private.
