Coronation Street fans are predicting the return of a soap legend to take down Idris Nazir, who has set his sights on Carla Connor's business, Underworld.
Idris (Junade Khan) made his debut on the ITV soap earlier this year as Alya Nazir's (Sair Khan) uncle. He quickly ruffled feathers on the cobbles, striking up a romance with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and taking youngster Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) under his wing, with dodgy consequences.
Recently, Idris has targeted Carla Connor's (Alison King) business, Underworld, which Carla faces losing due to its financial struggles.
Idris sabotages Carla's business
In Monday's episode (November 1), Carla met with a potential Underworld client, but Idris recognised the client and told him malicious lies about Carla's reputation.
Spoilers for later this week reveal an intrigued Idris listens in as Carla confides in Lisa (Vicky Myers) at the cafe that she will have to cancel the Christmas bonus and needs to get the current order out on time if she is to save the factory.
Carla breaks the news to the devastated staff that she is struggling to keep the factory afloat. Idris meets up with Brody at the rear of the factory and, handing him a lighter, tells him he has a job for him.
Factory closure looms
Later in the week, at Speed Daal, an angry Leanne confronts Idris and Brody and reveals that she saw Brody breaking into the factory. The following day, Carla tells the shocked workers that she has no option but to shut the factory.
She also informs them she can only pay them one month's wages. A remorseful Brody is disgusted that Leanne and Idris seem unconcerned about the factory having to close and all the staff being out of a job.
Fans call for Peter Barlow's return
With more drama to come, fans reckon a former soap legend could return to put a stop to Idris. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: "Can't stand Idris, he's so slimy and the thought of Carla having to share any ownership with him makes me itch."
Someone else chimed in and predicted Peter Barlow's (Chris Gascoyne) comeback. They wrote: "Get Peter back to sort him out." A third penned: "I loved Carla and Peter together." Another person said: "He would definitely help out Carla."
Peter was born on-screen in 1965 and played a part in a ton of dramatic soap moments. He left Weatherfield in December 2023 for a fresh start in Spain.
This came after he struggled with his mental health after accidentally running over and killing serial killer Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce). His marriage to Carla Connor was also breaking down, so Carla bought him a one-way ticket to Spain.
