Body Found in Search for Missing Dad Tom Allan

A body has been discovered in the search for a father who went missing during Storm Boelo. Tom Allan, 63, was reported missing from Westmains Farm in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire, on Friday, October 23, after he was last seen by his family at around 8.15am that day.

Discovery in Canderside Toll

Police Scotland confirmed that the body of a man was found in the Canderside Toll area of Stonehouse on Monday afternoon. Formal identification has yet to take place, but Tom's family have been informed of the discovery.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.15pm on Monday, 2 November, 2026, we received a report of the body of a man having been found in the Canderside Toll area of Stonehouse, Larkhall."

Extensive Search Effort

The search for Tom involved specialist units, including the police helicopter, dive and marine unit, police dogs, and mountain rescue teams. His family, including his daughter and niece, also made heartfelt appeals to help find him.

Storm Boelo brought heavy rain and 80mph winds to Scotland last weekend, leaving many communities damaged. Extensive searches were made in the Stonehouse area, with farmland and the wider local area scoured during the storm. Police had initially asked the public to check sheds and outbuildings.

Police Statement

One week after his disappearance, officers made a re-appeal while Tom's family also shared their own appeals. The Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of Tom Allan, aged 63, who was reported missing from the area, have been informed."

"The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
