Channel 4 has released a statement after pulling a week's worth of Four in a Bed episodes from its streaming service, prompting an outpouring of anger from viewers who branded the move "disgraceful" and "unacceptable".
The episodes in question, from the week commencing Monday 5 October, included the new run and the concluding payment day episode, which are currently missing from the broadcaster's online platform. The description for Friday's episode reads: "The new run continues. A jaw-dropping payment is the talk of the town on payment day, prompting some rather heated debate."
Viewers vent frustration on social media
Fans of the show, which first hit screens in 2010 and follows four teams of B&B hotel owners who stay at and rate each other's properties, took to X/Twitter to express their discontent. One person posted: "Removing payment day Four in a Bed when viewers have watched all week is a disgrace. If it's not suitable to air then don't air Mon to Thurs. Why bother watching and supporting the show when you could do the same again?"
Another asked: "Channel 4, can I asked why you have taken this week's Four in a Bed off catch-up and streaming?" as a third posted: "Channel 4 where the hell has the payment day episode of #FourInABed gone? I recorded it but it's not showing anywhere! This is unacceptable!"
Channel 4 responds
Channel 4 responded to several comments on X/Twitter with a statement that read: "We just wanted to let you know that the episodes from last weeks #FourInABed are now unavailable, but we are excited that a new week starts this afternoon on #Channel4 at 5pm!"
Despite the response, the fury continued on Reddit, where one viewer commented: "This is absurd. I've see Monday to Thursday on demand - I want to see payment day!" Another added: "What's the point of watching now? It's meant to be light-hearted fun. But if you invest the time to watch all week, then they won't show you the finale - what's the point? And what should we do, wait until all episodes are out before watching?"
Another fan remarked: "Yeah I'm pretty annoyed that it was pulled. I waited all week to see payment day and then it just didn't air," with another chiming in: "I've just sat down to watch it and that whole week's worth is gone! So annoyed."
