Cat Deeley has released a statement after ITV's This Morning was pulled suddenly from broadcast this morning, alongside Lorraine and Loose Women. Pre-recorded footage of the daytime programme went out instead, as electricity failed in the studio and left bosses searching for alternative content for viewers.
In a behind-the-scenes clip, Cat recorded herself washing her hair and face in darkness as she revealed there was "no electricity" and confirmed there was also "no water". Her hairdresser resorted to tipping a bottle of water over Cat's head as the room was lit only by the torch from Cat's phone.
Cat Deeley's Statement
She captioned her post: "No power. No water. The show must go on! @chadmaxwellhair & I will continue to colour my hair in the face of adversity... we'll just get a little creative in the process, clearly."
Lorraine Kelly also informed her fans in a video from her vehicle: "Hello there, I'm on my way to work but there's been a little bit of a hoo-ha, there's a power outage at the studio, so my show won't be on today."
Impact on ITV Schedule
"But you can still watch GMB and they're going to fix it round about 11 o'clock-ish so This Morning will still be on as well, but just maybe a little bit later."
"It's a bit of a shame. I was really looking forward to talking to Sharleen Spiteri from [rock band] Texas, but we shall reschedule, and it'll all be fine. I will see you tomorrow." She wrote in her caption: "These things happen. Can't be helped. See you tomorrow."
All three programmes - Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women - are broadcast from the same studio in Covent Garden. However, GMB is filmed in Holborn, meaning it was able to go ahead as originally planned.
ITV's Response
ITV put out a statement to clarify the situation to viewers: "Following a power cut overnight in the wider area where our Covent Garden studio is based, we are unable to broadcast Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women live today."
"We will return to our normal schedule as soon as possible."
