Scottish actor Brian Cox has said he will spend as much time as possible in the UK following Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election. The 78-year-old Succession star, who has been outspoken in his criticism of Trump, called him a 'monster' during Channel 4's election coverage last month.
In an interview with The Guardian, Cox said the result did not make him lose faith in people, but rather made him realise 'people are stupid'. Asked if he would stay in the US, he replied: 'I don’t know. I’ve got to because my sons are there. But I’ll try to spend as much time here [UK] as I can.'
During the Channel 4 broadcast, Cox described Trump as 'crazy', 'insane', and 'deeply mentally unstable', adding: 'This is not a man who should be the president of the United States... He’s unreliable, he’s a convicted felon, I’m horrified.'
The actor also clashed with former prime minister Boris Johnson, who defended Trump. Cox accused Trump of being 'completely self-serving' and only interested in himself. The exchange went viral after screenshots showed Cox glaring at Johnson.
Cox, who played Logan Roy in HBO's Succession, is set to voice a character in the new anime Lord of the Rings film The War of the Rohirrim and star in the play The Score at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket from February.
