Kris Marshall has confirmed his return to Beyond Paradise despite fan speculation that his character Detective Humphrey Goodman would resign. However, Marshall revealed his commitment to the Death in Paradise spin-off during an interview with Chris Evans on TFI Friday Unplugged. When discussing future seasons, the actor confirmed: "Well, we're about to start shooting season five."
Season 4 Finale and Future Plans
The fourth series concluded on Friday with what appeared to be Humphrey's final day as detective inspector. The episode synopsis described it as "Humphrey's last day as detective inspector" as the team awaits the town's annual pirate festival. Despite the dramatic storyline suggesting his departure, Marshall's confirmation of season five filming indicates the beloved detective will continue beyond the current series finale.
The BBC is yet to officially confirm Season 5, but Marshall made the revelation to Chris Evans on his programme TFI Friday Unplugged. The radio presenter continued: "We're in Season 4 now, 5,6,7 (seasons), that's probably where it's gonna be and where it's gonna go, and you'll all be happy at the end of maybe six series. Do you think they could really stir it up in Season 5?"
Marshall's Commitment
Sealing his commitment to the programme, Kris stated: "Well, we're about to start shooting Season 5." On what he thinks of it, the actor replied: "I am not gonna give away spoilers, they haven't even written it yet."
