BBC Morning Live Presenters Announce Summer Break as Replacement Confirmed
BBC Morning Live Takes Summer Break; Animal Park Replaces It

BBC Morning Live presenters Gethin Jones and Helen Skelton confirmed on Friday, July 10, 2026, that the programme is taking a summer break. The show will not air for several weeks, with the slot being replaced by fresh episodes of Animal Park.

Presenters Announce Break During Live Broadcast

During the live broadcast, Gethin Jones revealed that Morning Live would be taking a break and would not return for some time throughout the summer months. Strictly Come Dancing star Greg Rutherford, who appeared for the Strictly Fitness slot, joked about being kicked out on the last show. Gethin responded: "Speaking of the summer holidays, we're gonna have a little break after today."

The episode also featured gardening expert Mark Lane, Rip Off Britain's Louise Minchin, Dr Punam Krishan, and lawyer Gary Rycroft.

Animal Park to Fill Morning Slot

From Monday, July 20, 2026, the 9:30am to 10:15am slot on BBC One will be filled by fresh episodes of Animal Park, airing straight after BBC Breakfast. The documentary programme will mark 25 years with presenters Kate Humble and Ben Fogle, looking back at unforgettable animal tales and their lasting bond.

According to the BBC, new obstacles include bringing together hippo families, keeping tabs on cheeky meerkats, and a touching anniversary surprise from the keepers, building up to an emotional tribute at Longleat Safari Park. Throughout the week, Kate and Ben will also see maned wolves arrive at the park for the first time, while tensions mount within the pride following the loss of lioness Malaika last year.

Recent Interruption for Death News

The announcement of Morning Live's break follows a recent interruption during the July 9 broadcast for "sad" death news. The live show was briefly paused during Dr Ranj Singh's health segment as Gethin Jones announced the death of Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler at the age of 75. Gethin read a statement from Bonnie's website: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for." The statement continued: "We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy."

Morning Live airs weekdays on BBC One at 9:30am. The exact return date of the show has not yet been confirmed.
