Anya Taylor-Joy's Whirlwind Week: Disneyland Thrills to Dior Front Row
Anya Taylor-Joy: Disneyland to Dior in 24 Hours

Life is certainly a rollercoaster for Anya Taylor-Joy. The Peaky Blinders actress, 30, was spotted having fun at Disneyland in California, holding her arms aloft in delight on one of the attractions next to her husband of three years, musician Malcolm McRae. But there was no time to scream if she wanted to go faster. Less than 24 hours later, she had ditched her casual Adidas tracksuit for dressy Dior.

In contrast to her windswept appearance on the rollercoaster, there was not a hair out of place as the actress graced the front row of Dior's 2027 Cruise show, held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Wednesday. Dressed in a cropped black top, voluminous black skirt, and elegant black mules, Taylor-Joy was part of a guest list that read like a Who's Who of Hollywood A-listers, including Al Pacino and Jeff Goldblum. Although when it came to glamour, not everyone brought their A-game.

Joining Taylor-Joy in the dressed-up corner was pop star Sabrina Carpenter, 27, in a transparent lemon chiffon dress that was hot off the catwalk. But keeping things decidedly more casual was Miley Cyrus, 33, in a denim shirt and jeans. When you are about to be inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as Cyrus is on May 22, perhaps you feel you have earned the right. Besides, for the younger generation of Dior customers, wearing the right jeans is a bigger priority than wearing the right dress. A dressed-down celebrity clutching a Starbucks is almost as aspirational as an actress in couture.

Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson's debut Cruise collection reflected this divide. For the glamour lover, there was Sunday Rose Kidman, 17, in drop earrings and a shimmering silver sequin gown. For the lover of more casual clothes, there was a surfeit of denim. And for the men, there were jeans aplenty, ripped at the knee or thigh, as Anderson combined menswear and womenswear on Dior's catwalk for the first time. Given that Anderson has designed a £34.99 pair of jeans for high street giant Uniqlo, some might wonder who would pay four figures for the Dior version. Suffice to say that Dior's were hand-crafted by its Parisian ateliers.

While it is too early to know whether Dior's sales have risen since Anderson took the helm a year ago, there is no such ambiguity at Burberry. Proving that British luxury brands can compete with the French, the 170-year-old house has just reported a 5 per cent rise in sales for the most recent quarter, with revenues of £2.42 billion for the 2026 fiscal year. To celebrate, Burberry hosted a dinner at the hotel Belle Rives in Cap d'Antibes, attended by guests including Devil Wears Prada 2 actress Simone Ashley, who, like Cyrus, wore a denim shirt and jeans. To rephrase the original Devil Wears Prada... Denim? For spring? Rule-breaking.
