Andy Stevenson Replaces Isa Guha as BBC Wimbledon Presenter
Andy Stevenson Replaces Isa Guha at Wimbledon

The BBC's Wimbledon coverage on Friday saw a change in presenting personnel as Isa Guha was replaced by Andy Stevenson for the men's semi-finals at the All England Club. Guha, who typically fronts the morning coverage, was instead stationed at Lord's to host a Women's Test match between England and India.

Guha's Absence and Replacement

Isa Guha, a former cricketer and regular BBC Wimbledon presenter, was absent from her usual role on Friday, July 10. The broadcaster was substituted by Andy Stevenson, who usually presents the wheelchair finals. This is not the first time Guha has been replaced at Wimbledon; she was notably substituted by former British tennis player Laura Robson last week and was also absent from coverage on Thursday morning.

Men's Semi-Finals Schedule

The men's semi-finals on Friday feature British wildcard Arthur Fery facing Alexander Zverev in the opening match on Centre Court, followed by a blockbuster encounter between top seed Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic. The tournament at SW19 is drawing to a close, with the semi-finals now underway.

Stevenson's Preview and Reflections

Previewing the action, Andy Stevenson said: "Welcome to Wimbledon on another scorching day and the hottest tickets in town are definitely on Centre Court today to watch Arthur Fery. That square church tower in the top right-hand corner of the picture there is Christ Church Wimbledon and opposite that church is Westside Tennis Club, where Arthur Fery first stepped onto a tennis court, aged just four years old. He went to school just round the corner as well. I drove past those two places on my way in. He really is a local hero, as well as a British hero. And today, almost 20 years on from picking up that tennis racket for the first time, he returns as a Wimbledon semi-finalist."

Stevenson was joined by Louise Hunt Skelley and Leon Smith beneath the shaded Rose Arbour, just across from Centre Court. Reflecting on Fery's achievement, Leon Smith said: "I'm absolutely thrilled for him. He's a wonderful person. He's shown a huge amount of determination, quality. No chance anyone [would have] dreamed this [would happen] in the last fortnight, but it has and he's earned it. He's played some amazing tennis." Louise Hunt Skelley added: "The energy and excitement is just taking over, isn't it? It's truly infectious. But I'm so excited to see how today is going to unfold. It's a really magical journey and I just believe that why can't this be his opportunity? I've got every faith, I've got everything behind him. Although it's been a bit of a tough road, sometimes that can be the thing that can fuel you to reach the top."

Previous Women's Semi-Finals

On Thursday, July 9, Czech duo Karolína Muchová and Linda Nosková secured their places in their maiden Wimbledon final, beating American star Coco Gauff and Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk on Centre Court. Wimbledon coverage is broadcast on BBC One and BBC Two, and can also be streamed via BBC iPlayer.
