Fans of Netflix’s hit political thriller ‘The Night Agent’ have been surprised to discover that lead actor Gabriel Basso began his career with a role in the teen show ‘iCarly’. The 28-year-old American actor, who plays FBI night agent Peter Sutherland in the series, appeared in the Nickelodeon programme early in his acting journey.
Basso, from St. Louis, Missouri, landed his big break in 2010 with a regular part in the comedy-drama ‘The Big C’ as Adam Jamison. Prior to that, he had small roles in TV shows including ‘iCarly’ and ‘Eastwick’. In 2011, he featured in the Hollywood film ‘Super 8’ as Martin Read.
After a period away from acting, Basso returned with a role in the 2020 film ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ and subsequently ‘The Night Agent’. He told Netflix’s Tudum: “I sort of tuned out. I took a big break and I enjoyed old spy movies.” On performing his own stunts, he added: “I tend to stay in shape in real life and I fight a lot in real life and I train a lot. What was difficult is that stunt fighting is sort of its own martial art.”
Basso prefers to keep his private life out of the spotlight, but he is a proud father-of-one. He announced the birth of his daughter on Instagram in 2020, writing: “There’s a new Basso on the planter.” His current relationship status is not publicly known.
