Netflix has announced that the second season of its sports comedy series ‘Running Point’ will premiere on 23 April. The streamer released first-look images from the upcoming season, which sees Kate Hudson return as the lead character Isla Gordon.
The series, created by executive producers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, introduced viewers to Isla Gordon in season one. She is a sharp but underestimated executive who unexpectedly takes charge of the Los Angeles Waves basketball franchise following a high-profile scandal.
In season two, the stakes are raised. Isla is no longer a surprise choice but the one everyone is watching. Determined to prove she deserves the role permanently, she must contend with her brother Cam (Justin Theroux), who is quietly working behind the scenes to reclaim his position, turning every misstep into ammunition. Isla must also balance the pressures of running a franchise with her personal life.
The ensemble cast includes Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman and Uche Agada. Recurring guest stars include Ray Romano, Max Greenfield and Jay Ellis. Hudson also serves as an executive producer alongside Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, Linda Rambis and producer Jordan Rambis. The series is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television.
