Netflix Edits Stranger Things After Fans Spot 1990s Brand in 80s Show
Netflix fixes Stranger Things' Under Armour blunder

Netflix has been forced into a quiet edit of its flagship series, Stranger Things, after eagle-eyed subscribers spotted a glaring historical blunder in the show's final season.

The 'Blink and You'll Miss It' Blunder

In the seventh episode of season five, titled The Bridge, the character Holly Wheeler, played by Nell Fisher, is seen strapped to one of Vecna's Pain Trees. As she fights to escape, a clear logo for the sportswear brand Under Armour is visible on her left sleeve. This created a major continuity error, as Under Armour was not founded until 1996, while the hit sci-fi drama is firmly set in the 1980s.

The mistake quickly spread across social media, with fans drawing immediate comparisons to the infamous moment in Game of Thrones' eighth season where a stray Starbucks coffee cup was left in a shot. One viewer quipped online, "Close enough, welcome back GoT season eight," while another questioned how such a basic error could slip through the net on a show with a reported $500 million budget.

Netflix's Swift but Silent Correction

In response to the fan uproar, Netflix has since edited the contentious scene. The streaming giant removed the recognisable Under Armour logo, leaving Holly Wheeler's sleeve a plain, unmarked black. The change was made without any official announcement, a tactic often employed by platforms to correct minor errors post-release.

Despite the fix, the discussion continues online. Subscribers are baffled by the oversight, with one posting, "How did they not notice this?" and another stating, "Now that's funny. Duffer Bros missed this one bad." The incident highlights the intense scrutiny major shows face in the age of high-definition streaming and social media.

Final Showdown Looms for Hawkins' Heroes

The editing drama comes as Stranger Things approaches its grand finale. The penultimate episode revealed the Upside Down is actually a wormhole—dubbed The Bridge—linking Earth to The Abyss, home to Vecna and The Mind Flayer. The core group's plan is now to destroy this bridge to stop Vecna for good.

All will be revealed when Stranger Things season five's final episode drops on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31, in the US, and New Year's Day, Thursday, January 1, in the UK, exclusively on Netflix. Fans will soon discover if the heroes of Hawkins succeed, or if their mission marks a tragic end for some beloved characters.
