The Show's Plot and Availability
The Mentalist is an American drama series that originally aired from September 23, 2008, until February 18, 2015, spanning seven seasons on CBS. The show follows Patrick Jane, an independent consultant working alongside the California Bureau of Investigation in Sacramento, California.
Despite holding no law enforcement credentials, Jane draws upon talents honed during his former career as a successful but fraudulent psychic medium to help CBI agents crack murder cases. His involvement runs far deeper than mere professional duty, as his driving motivation is to track down the notorious serial killer known as Red John, the ruthless killer responsible for the savage murders of his wife, Angela Ruskin Jane, and his daughter, Charlotte Anne Jane.
It is categorised as both a crime drama and mystery thriller. For those interested, every episode is now available on Netflix.
