Netflix fans 'absolutely broken' after bingeing Haunted Hotel S2

Netflix fans have admitted they are 'absolutely broken' after getting through an 'insanely cosy' series in just half a day. Despite a new season of the show being released just a few days ago, viewers are already demanding new episodes.

Season 2 arrives with eight episodes

Haunted Hotel debuted on the streaming platform in 2025. Last week, it celebrated its second season, which is shorter than the first, with eight episodes.

The series comes from Matt Roller, a former writer on Rick and Morty. According to its synopsis, a single mother of two struggles to run a haunted hotel with the help of her estranged brother, who is now one of the ghosts there and thinks the other ghosts have some pretty good ideas.

Star-studded voice cast returns

Its second season not only sees the family and ghosts on even more adventures but also explores previously unknown backstories for key characters. Fans will recognise many of the animated series' star-studded voice cast.

This includes Four Seasons star Will Forte, Scrubs alum Eliza Coupe, Superman's Skyler Gisondo, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor Jimmi Simpson, to name a few. Haunted Hotel's first season recorded a more than respectable 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but its latest instalment has scored a perfect 100% among both critics and fans.

Emotional storylines leave fans wanting more

Viewers who have already made their way through all episodes in record time have praised the more emotional storylines. Without sharing spoilers, one posted online: "The last episode left me absolutely broken."

They added, "I loved season 2, but only eight episodes definitely weren't enough. I absolutely devoured it. And when we see the time skip to the one light on in the room, I instantly started crying. It hurts my heart so much. All I can say is I need more episodes. Please, Netflix, give us season 3."

Others agreed they needed more episodes and felt the new season was too short. Someone replied: "This is really good quality show.... eight episodes was definitely not enough. Episode one had me with Abaddon: 'but I want him to like me' and episode four and eight just gutted me."

Another agreed: "I watched the entire season in half a day! Wish there were more episodes...I love the little fantasy world it's based in. I think I'll watch season 1 again to stay in their universe a little longer."

Horror elements turned into comfort

Despite the show often utilising elements from the horror genre, fans say it does so in a way that is actually comforting rather than scare. One person explained, "Haunted Hotel just gets it. As a horror fan, this show feels like a massive warm hug. It takes all the weird, dark stuff and turns it into pure comfort."

"I throw it on the second. I need to shut out the rest of the world and just chill. The characters feel like old friends, the atmosphere is insanely cosy, and I genuinely never want it to end. Absolute perfection."

Haunted Hotel is streaming on Netflix.
