Plot and cast details
The American crime-drama miniseries is based on the 2023 novel by Harlan Coben, which follows a father who was wrongfully sentenced to life in prison for his son's death.
David Burroughs, portrayed by Sam Worthington, was arrested and handed a life sentence following the alleged murder. His wife, Cheryl (Erin Richards), abandons him and begins a new relationship. However, five years into his imprisonment, David receives a visit from Rachel Mills (Britt Lower), his former sister-in-law and a journalist, who presents him with a photograph that could exonerate him.
Visible in the background of the image, taken at an amusement park, is a young boy bearing Matthew's distinctive facial birthmark. Consequently, David engineers a bold prison escape with the assistance of sympathetic allies on the inside, determined to uncover the truth, clear his name and rescue his son Matthew.
