Prince William is reportedly “annoyed and frustrated” by the handling of the “Andrew issue”, according to royal author Andrew Lownie. The Prince of Wales has taken a firm stance against his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, over his association with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Earlier this year, William and his wife Catherine were the first royals to release a statement as details of Andrew’s relationship with Epstein emerged. A spokesperson said: “The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims.”
Lownie told the i Paper that William is frustrated that responsibility for the matter has been passed from the late Queen to King Charles, who has not resolved it in three years. He added that Charles feels an obligation to his relatives but has his own “skeletons in the closet”, leading him to keep Andrew within the royal fold.
However, Lownie suggested that William “doesn’t care about any of that” and wants a “clean stable” when he becomes king. Kensington Palace has stated that the King and the Prince and Princess of Wales are “in lockstep” on the issue.
