Prince William is expected to take a tougher stance on his brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when he becomes king, according to a royal journalist. Speaking on TalkTV, Sarah-Louise Robertson suggested that William would likely strip the couple of their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles if Harry remains married to Meghan.
Robertson said: "This will obviously hinge on whether Harry will still be married to that woman, Meghan Markle. If Harry is still married to Meghan, William will strip the titles." She added that if the couple divorces, William might take a "less harsher approach" and attempt to repair his relationship with Harry.
The discussion follows reports that King Charles III has allowed Harry and Meghan to keep their titles since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. However, the couple agreed not to use their HRH titles as non-working royals, though they have reportedly used them privately, and their children hold the titles Prince and Princess.
Robertson acknowledged the situation is hypothetical, noting that Harry's children, particularly Lilibet, who was born in the US, complicate any potential divorce. She expressed surprise that the marriage has lasted this long, given the challenges.
